Water treatment programme
BG 88 Commissioning Responsibilities Framework, by Matt Lowry, published by BSRIA in January 2025, defines a water treatment programme as: ‘A documented programme for the control of water quality in a closed system. According to BG 50 (Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems), this must include a sampling regime, a water circulation and chemical suspension monitoring plan, and a chemical compatibility and dosing plan.’
Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines water treatment as: ‘Any processes that improve the quality of water to make it appropriate for its intended use and reduce the risk of damage to the system.’ It defines a water treatment programme as: ‘A documented programme for the control of water quality in a closed system.’
